General Information

Finca La Serra del Vent 2019 is a magnificent white wine born from a unique 0.8-hectare vineyard at more than 730 meters above sea level. This location is ideal for planting, on rocky, gravelly, and clay soils, the white grape variety chardonnay. This single-varietal wine is produced organically and following biodynamic practices, a significant hallmark of the Tomàs Cusiné winery.

The winery Tomàs Cusiné began in 2003 with the goal of crafting wines with personality that define the terroir and the area where they are located, making the most of winemaker Tomàs Cusiné's extensive knowledge of the D.O. Costers del Segre. In this latest phase, the winery has decided to prioritize work in the vineyard and precision winemaking. The winery has 30 hectares of its own vineyards, which are cultivated organically and sustainably.

From this organic farming comes Finca La Serra del Vent 2019, belonging to the D.O. Costers del Segre. The grapes are harvested manually and placed in boxes, followed by cooling of the whole grape. During the winemaking process, a gentle pressing is carried out. After fermentation, half of the wine ages in a single 500-liter amphora for 6 months, while the other half undergoes 6 months of aging in a single 500-liter French oak barrel. With a limited production of 1,300 bottles, La Serra del Vent 2019 is ideal for pairing with baked or grilled white fish, oily fish, smoked dishes, and aged cheeses.

Tasting notes

Golden yellow color, clean and very bright.

Medium intensity on the nose, presenting aromas of quince, smoky notes, beeswax, honey, and vanilla.

On the palate, it has good body and high acidity that provides freshness. The finish is long but without excessive volume.

The winery

This boutique winery is the first independent project of Tomàs Cusiné in the village of El Vilosell. In 2003, after gaining the necessary experience in wineries such as Castell del Remei and Cérvoles, the winemaker decided to embark on his own wine adventure in the region of Les Garrigues.

The purpose of this winery is to craft characterful wines that represent the expression of the territory, leveraging Tomàs Cusiné's knowledge of the D.O. Costers del Segre. In recent years, the winery has been prioritizing vineyard work and precision winemaking.

Currently, it produces wines under the denominations of origin Costers del Segre, Conca de Barberà, and Monsant.

This winery has 30 hectares of vineyards, which are managed organically and sustainably. In addition to its own vineyards, there are another 70 hectares from associated winegrowers in the same area.

As a winemaker, Tomàs Cusiné demonstrates his mastery in wine blending and is recognized as an expert in this field, with over 30 harvests of experience. In short, he is one of the most renowned winemakers on the current scene, with a total production of 1,200,000 bottles, half of which are exported to more than 40 countries worldwide.
