General Information

Erre de Herrero Verdejo 2023 is proof that the verdejo holds no secrets for the Herrero Vedel brothers, owners since 2011 of Herrero Bodega, a small and interesting firm based in the town of Nieva in Segovia. Creations like this Erre de Herrero Verdejo demonstrate their absolute mastery of a variety that, on this occasion, shows its most distinctive character, reflecting the terroir from which it originates.

The fruits that Herrero Bodega selected to create this Erre de Herrero Verdejo come from vineyards over 15 years old (60%) and the remaining 40% over 60 years old, planted in stony soils in the areas of Nieva, Aldeanueva del Codonal, Moraleja de Coca, and Santiuste de San Juan Bautista. The traditional method was followed in the production, with fermentation at controlled temperature and a wine aging period of 2 months on its fine lees in stainless steel tanks.

Due to its intense aromas with balsamic and mineral nuances and its broad and structured palate, which invites another sip, Erre de Herrero Verdejo 2023 is a white wine from Rueda perfect for any occasion, whether as an aperitif or to accompany a good meal. A sure success.

Tasting notes

Erre de Herrero Verdejo has a striking lemon yellow color.

On the nose, it presents clear aromas of mint leaf on a background of apple and lime.

The palate is broad and structured, with the presence of fruit and white flowers and a bitter touch, characteristic of the variety. Intense and long aftertaste.

The winery

Herrero Bodega is a small family-owned winery run by the Herrero Vedel brothers. Based in the town of Nieva, the winery manages 40 hectares of vineyards, mostly of the verdejo variety, spread across this municipality and the towns of Nava de la Asunción, Santiuste de San Juan Bautista, Aldeanueva del Codonal, Moraleja de Coca, Codorniz, and Aldehuela del Codonal, in the Segovian part of the D.O. Rueda.

The selection of the best musts, strict control during their fermentation, and the pursuit of excellence in organoleptic criteria allow Herrero Bodega to offer a range of wines of the highest quality, combining tradition and modernity to meet contemporary consumer tastes. This is how the four wines they produce are created: the verdejos Erre de Herrero, Atino, and Robert Vedel, as well as the sauvignon blanc that pays tribute to the owners' mother, Pour Janine Vedel.
