General Information

Emilio Moro 2022 is made from Tempranillo grapes sourced from medium-aged vineyards located in Pesquera de Duero, with a southwest orientation and clay-limestone and stony soils. In the 2022 harvest, the warm and dry climate extended beyond the harvest period. This resulted in an outstanding concentration and ripeness of the grapes.

Once in the winery, the grapes fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, followed by malolactic fermentation for 30 days, also in stainless steel tanks. Finally, it underwent an aging period in French and American oak barrels.

Emilio Moro is one of the wineries that has most contributed to showcasing the excellence of Ribera del Duero wines beyond our borders. It combines respect for the winemaking tradition inherited from the previous two generations with innovation, crafting ‘terroir’ wines that have set trends.

1987 is the year when Emilio Moro decided to market his wines made from the vineyards his father had planted in the privileged area of Pesquera de Duero (Valladolid). Today, with the third generation at the helm, Bodegas Emilio Moro represents the story of a lineage of winemakers who have achieved great international renown. The winery owns 200 hectares of vineyards. The wine bearing the name of the winery’s founder, Emilio Moro 2022, is the flagship of the brand.

Bodegas Emilio Moro is among the wineries that have most contributed to showcasing the excellence of Ribera del Duero wines beyond our borders. It is the story of a family of winemakers with a tradition spanning several generations, who have managed to position their wines among the most highly regarded worldwide; in fact, it was recently nominated for the Best European Winery award by the influential American magazine ‘Wine Enthusiast,’ which recognized it as the best in Spain. Located in Pesquera de Duero, in a privileged enclave of the Ribera del Duero, it is currently led by Javier Moro (president), heir to the love for wine of his grandfather and father, both named Emilio.

This Valladolid-based winery has always been committed to producing wines deeply connected to their terroir, convinced that it is the soil that gives them personality. It owns nearly 400 hectares of its own vineyards, planted and grafted with a clone of tempranillo recovered from its oldest vines, which undoubtedly provides fruits of extraordinary quality, with great color, character, and nuances. Among the most emblematic plots of the winery are Resalso (planted in 1933, the year Emilio Moro, father of the current owners, was born); Valderramiro, with the oldest vines of the winery and the cradle of the great wine Malleolus de Valderramiro; Sanchomartín and Camino Viejo, from which the red wine Malleolus is born.

In 2016, Bodegas Emilio Moro embarked on a new project, for the first time, outside Ribera del Duero, under the Bierzo designation of origin, where they have three labels. Since 2023, they have owned a winery in the area. Currently, they have over 60 hectares dedicated to the godello grape.
