The boom that Ribera del Duero has experienced over the past two decades has been enormous. So much so that wineries from all over Spain have set their sights on the region, such as the Pérez Cuevas family, the founders of the historic Ontañón winery in Rioja, who are now present in Ribera del Duero with Altos de Ontañón, in Fuentecén (Burgos). Their first wines have already attracted attention for their excellent value for money. We're offering you their exclusive Dominio de la Abadesa Reserva 2019. Designed from grapes from an Excellent vintage, selected from old vines located at an altitude of over 900 metres above sea level. A very elegant Reserva, with a smooth and balanced palate, ripe tannins, mouth-filling and round with a long finish.

General Information

Dominio de la Abadesa Reserva 2019 (an Excellent vintage) was made from grapes selected from old vines that grow at an altitude of more than 900 metres in clay soils that yield elegant wines with good structure due to longer maturation cycles. Marked temperature differences between day and night during the summer months cause them to ripen even more slowly, ensuring a high concentration of colour and tannins. Aged for 24 months in medium-toast, fine-grained American and French oak barrels followed by at least 12 months in the bottle.

Ontañón is a historic Spanish wine brand. Created in the 1980s by the Pérez Cuevas family, it stands for the passion of small, artisanal grape growers. Currently run by the fifth generation of the family, this is a rejuvenated firm in excellent shape that’s expended into other iconic Denominaciones de Origen.  Altos de Ontañón is the name of the winery in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. Based in Fuentecén (Burgos), it’s characterised by a balance between fruit and wood in its wines. Altos de Ontañón is currently redesigning its brands.

Dominio de la Abadesa Reserva 2019 (D.O. Ribera del Duero) is very good with chary-grilled baby lamb chops or beef stew with potatoes.
