The rise experienced by Ribera del Duero in the last two decades has been enormous. So much so that wineries from all over Spain have set their sights here, such as the Pérez Cuevas family, creators of the historic Ontañón winery in Rioja, and now present in Ribera del Duero with Altos de Ontañón, in Fuentecén (Burgos). Their first wines have already drawn attention for their excellent quality-price ratio. We present to you, exclusively, Dominio de la Abadesa Reserva 2018. Crafted with selected grapes from old vines located above 900 m altitude. A very elegant Reserva, with a smooth and balanced palate, ripe tannins, enveloping, rounded, and a long aftertaste.

Dominio de la Abadesa Reserva 2018 was made with selected grapes from old vines located over 900 m above sea level on clay soils, which offer elegant and structured wines due to the longer ripening cycles. With significant day/night temperature variations during the summer season, this slower ripening process results in a high concentration of color and tannins. It aged for 24 months in American and French oak barrels with medium toast and fine grain, followed by a minimum of 12 months of bottle aging.
Ontañón is a historic Spanish wine brand. Forged in the 1980s by the Pérez Cuevas family, it represents the passion of small artisan winemakers. Now led by the fifth generation of the family, it is a rejuvenated and thriving brand that has expanded its expertise to other emblematic denominations of origin. Altos de Ontañón is the name of their winery in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. Based in Fuentecén (Burgos), it is characterized by the balance between fruit and wood achieved in its wines. Currently, Altos de Ontañón is undergoing a brand redesign process.
Dominio de la Abadesa Reserva 2018 (D.O. Ribera del Duero) pairs very well with grilled lamb chops or pork ribs.
