Bodegas Fariña is one of the leading Spanish wine firms. From Casaseca de las Chanas (where Salvador Fariña started out making wines in a rudimentary dug-out winery) and now also the town of Toro, this family firm, currently run by Manuel Fariña Pérez, owns more than than 300 hectares of vineyards that produce different ranges of wines for all budgets. Colegiata Tinto Tempranillo belongs to a range that pays tribute to the collegiate church of Toro (colegiata), an architectural gem that dates from the twelfth century. Grown on selected Tempranillo vines, this young red is notable for its great structure, its smooth mouthfeel and its prominent notes of ripe fruit.
Colegiata Tinto Tempranillo 2024 is a wine that hasn’t been aged in oak and goes beautifully with grilled red meats, pasta dishes and a broad variety of cheeses.
Colegiata Tinto Tempranillo is a purplish-red wine with aromas of liquorice in the nose together with red and black fruits, strawberries and blackberries. Fleshy and smooth with a very good backbone.
Colegiata Tinto Tempranillo es un vino de color rojo violáceo que ofrece en nariz aromas de regaliz junto a frutas rojas y negras, fresas y moras. En boca es un tinto carnoso y suave, con muy buena estructura.
The D.O. Toro would not be the same without the work carried out over the years by its most emblematic winery: Bodegas Fariña, a family-owned winery, pioneering, innovative, and a benchmark in the region. It is the only winery that has been present since the origins of the designation and the firm responsible for the great leap in quality achieved by its wines.
Following in the footsteps of the founder, Salvador Fariña, who began his work in a rudimentary winery dug into the ground in Casaseca de las Chanas, Manuel Fariña López turned this winery into the spearhead of the Tinta de Toro variety. He was a pioneer in Toro in applying winemaking techniques used in the world's most important wine regions, such as fermentation in stainless steel tanks, temperature control during fermentation, and selecting the most suitable barrels for aging wines. A series of innovations that laid the foundations of what many call “the great miracle of Toro”; changes that made it possible to move away from the bold and somewhat heavy wines of a past era to create powerful and elegant wines that have made the D.O. Toro a leading region.
Bodegas Fariña has over 300 hectares of its own vineyards, a true guarantee when producing high-quality wines in the area. Today, Manuel (Manu) Fariña Pérez, son of Manuel and grandson of Salvador, stands as the third generation of winemakers at the winery.
