General Information

Champagne Drappier Quattuor is an exceptional cuvée crafted from some of the forgotten grape varieties in the Champagne region. The name Quattuor (number four in Latin) refers to the equal combination of the white varieties used to create this magnificent champagne: 25% arbanne, 25% petit meslier, 25% blanc Vrai, and 25% chardonnay.

The vineyards of the Drappier estate span over 100 hectares. With more than two centuries of history, since its founding in 1808, the family has carefully selected plots of chalky soil with the best characteristics and location, near the town of Urville (France).

For the vinification of this Quattuor Blanc de Quatre Blancs (A.O.C. Champagne), only the must from the first pressing is used, with the aim of preserving the primary aromas of the grapes. After both fermentations and the final blending, the wines are aged in vats to achieve maximum freshness. After bottling, the champagne will age for a minimum of 3 years on lees. The result is a mineral and precise sparkling wine, delightful and full of freshness, making it ideal to accompany all types of appetizers, seafood creams, or dishes like veal carpaccio with white truffle.

Tasting notes

On the nose, it reveals aromas of fresh grapes and citrus that evolve into notes of honeyed apples, fig jam, on a background of white flowers.

On the palate, it is a champagne that stands out for its freshness and minerality, with a very persistent finish.

The winery

Settled in the commune of Urville, Champagne Drappier is one of the most prestigious wineries in the southern part of the Champagne region. Despite being founded in 1808, the first plantations of its vineyard date back to the Gallo-Roman era, 2000 years ago, and its cellars were built in 1152 by Saint Bernard, founder of the Clairvaux Abbey.

Currently, Champagne Drappier owns 55 hectares of vineyards and oversees another 50 thanks to agreements with local winegrowers. The dominant grape variety in the cultivation is pinot noir. It is precisely the use of this variety that is the main hallmark of the house, along with a winemaking process that emphasizes minimal dosage. The small amount of liqueur d'expédition used in their champagnes is typically a wine aged in barrels for over 10 years, which adds complexity and length. The result is a well-defined style distinguished by authenticity and the pursuit of natural qualities.
