The best corners of the estate owned by Bodega Finca la Capilla, in the D.O. Ribera del Duero, are dedicated to the production of the magnificent La Capilla Vendimia Seleccionada 2021, a balanced and powerful red wine with a classic character, made entirely from the finest tinta del país (tempranillo) grapes. 16 months of aging in new fine-grain Bordeaux barrels and an additional 18 months of refinement in the bottle have resulted in an elegant and vibrant red wine with complex aromas.

General Information
Under a primarily continental climate, the 60 hectares of vineyards owned by Bodega Finca La Capilla are cultivated, located at over 850 meters of altitude in the areas of Roa, La Horra, and Anguix (Burgos), on very heterogeneous soils. From these old vineyards come the best tempranillo grapes used to produce La Capilla Vendimia Seleccionada 2021, an excellent classic-style Ribera red; powerful, structured, and elegant.
Bodega Finca La Capilla originated in 1998 and, to this day, has 60 hectares of vineyards that have been consolidated thanks to the annexation of adjoining plots. Located in the heart of Ribera del Duero (Roa de Duero), the Castilian firm is under the control of the Forner family, already experienced in their Grand Cru Classé of Bordeaux and the emblematic Bodegas Marqués de Cáceres. With limited productions, the firm produces great wines intended for specialized distribution.
With a completely manual harvest, seeking and selecting the best vines, this red from the D.O. Ribera del Duero is vinified separately according to the estate's plots. For its production, a slow whole-grain alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts and a prolonged maceration is carried out, before fermentation in French oak barrels. The wine ages for 16 months in new fine-grain Bordeaux barrels and subsequently undergoes 18 months of bottle aging before commercialization. The result is this La Capilla Vendimia Seleccionada 2021, an exceptional 'Ribera' that pairs with all kinds of Castilian stews, barbecues and roasted meats, Iberian sausages, and cured cheeses.
Creators' opinion
La Capilla Vendimia Seleccionada is a wine with an intense, dark, and vibrant color. On the nose, it presents complex nuances of black fruit, tinta china, licorice, spices, and exotic woods. All the aromas are combined in harmony and balance. It is an elegant, vibrant red wine, without stridency and well-structured. The fruit expression predominates, where the wood accompanies but does not dominate. It has a very long aftertaste on the palate. Enjoy now and very suitable for aging over the next 10 years.

Having recently celebrated half a century of history, Marqués de Cáceres presents itself as a winery that markets its creations in over 150 countries and stands as one of the best ambassadors of Spanish wines. The wine group led by Cristina Forner has recently launched a new initiative in Roa de Duero, Bodegas Finca La Capilla, where, with the Tempranillo variety as its flagship, they captivate us with the endless resources of the region's emblematic grape outside its native Rioja.
