A straightforward, intense and flavoursome red from Rioja Alavesa
Baigorri Negu 2025 bets on freshness and lightness without losing personality. From Rioja Alavesa, this Tempranillo offers a fruity, elegant and very balanced profile, with a balsamic finish that invites you to keep toasting. Bodegas Baigorri has hit the mark again.
Baigorri Negu 2025 is a Rioja red made from Tempranillo with that fresh and direct personality that catches the eye from the first moment. It conveys exactly what it promises, and it is a young, nimble wine, very easy to enjoy.
Behind it are grapes from several estates in Rioja Alavesa and the Sonsierra, with vines planted at around 550 metres above sea level and an average age exceeding 45 years. The calcareous-clay soils and sustainable farming help shape a wine with good balance. In the cellar, part of the grape is worked with whole bunches and another with destemmed grapes, with hand selection berry by berry and carbonic maceration, before being rounded for 4 months in French oak vats.
Bodegas Baigorri, of Samaniego, has managed to earn its own place in Rioja Alavesa with a modern, precise approach to wine focused strongly on quality. Baigorri Negu 2025 fits wonderfully with that philosophy: a sincere, tasty red with plenty of ease to accompany everyday meals.
Consumption features
Pairing
Baigorri Negu 2025 goes especially well with a platter of Iberian cured meats and meatballs with pan-roasted potatoes.
In the winery, part of the grapes are vinified with whole clusters and another part destemmed, following carbonic maceration with long intracelular fermentations. The process takes place in open stainless steel tanks, with temperature control, and the remontages are carried out naturally by gravity, by immersion of the cap with its own juice. For the final extraction a pneumatic press is used and, afterwards, the wine passes to wooden vats, where the malolactic fermentation is completed before being rounded in French oak vats.
Aging
4 months in French oak barrels.

In the Rioja Alavesa region, since 2001, one of the most avant-garde and beautiful wineries of the denomination is located: Bodegas BAIGORRI, creator of highly awarded red wines in international competitions and a faithful example of the most current and successful Rioja values: terroir, fruit, and elegance. Their wines express terroir and subtlety, displaying a fruity character that never succumbs under the weight of oak. Key to their success is high-quality raw material, sourced from their 100 hectares of vineyards, with an average age of 50 years; vineyards where they apply sustainable farming and meticulous selection work.
BAIGORRI is also one of the most spectacular wineries in the world, designed by architect Iñaki Aspiazu. Its facilities are organized over several levels (underground floors) to take advantage of gravity and carry out a carefully detailed production process that begins with the manual selection of grapes. On the upper level, the grapes are received after harvest; on the lower level, the vinification process takes place in tanks, and on a third level, the aging in barrels (always French oak). In this way, the wine moves by its own weight, avoiding the use of pumps to preserve the fruit's qualities to the maximum. The interest in enological research is another characteristic of this winery.
