General Information

Attis Mar Albariño 2023 is an absolutely authentic, artisanal, and, above all, unique wine. The main uniqueness of this single-varietal white wine lies in the final step of its production process: a 6-month underwater aging beneath the waters of the Atlantic, which definitively enhances its acidity, freshness, and lightness.

The origin of Attis Mar Albariño 2023 lies in the finest grapes from a selection of plots, with vines at least 50 years old, which Attis Bodega y Viñedos cultivates, on trellises, partly organically, facing the ocean, in the heart of the Salnés Valley.

After the manual selection of the grapes, the production process began at the facilities of the Pontevedra-based winery with destemming and pressing, followed by cold settling, which was then succeeded by spontaneous alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature. Subsequently, the wine underwent a 6-month aging process on its fine lees with batonnage in stainless steel tanks and oak foudres. Once bottled, it was submerged to a depth of 12 meters, suspended on a mussel raft, where it remained for half a year, gently rocked by the currents. This underwater aging provided it with a surprising fresh and antioxidative evolution, making it a truly original wine with great aging potential.

Although the Fariña family has a long history linked to viticulture, it wasn’t until the year 2000 that brothers Robustiano and Baldomero, along with French winemaker Jean François Hébrand, established their own winery. Under the mythological name Attis, the brand has, in just a few years, become one of the most interesting names in the D.O. Rías Baixas thanks to the quality and diversity of its wines and its marked Atlantic character.

Tasting notes

It displays a clean and bright intense straw yellow color.

On the nose, it highlights a pronounced mineral character and a saline touch.

On the palate, the sensations evoked in the olfactory phase are also evident. With very fresh acidity, great finesse, and persistence. Tremendously broad, unctuous, and long.

The winery

In the heart of the Salnés Valley, specifically in the municipality of Meaño, lies Attis Bodega y Viñedos, a family-owned winery that produces authentic, artisanal, and Atlantic wines.

All the winery's creations are made from native varieties of the D.O. Rías Baixas, crafted with the utmost care and respect for the environment and the vines, from cultivation to vinification, including the harvest. The production is entirely artisanal, resulting in wines with a distinct Atlantic character and high salinity, a hallmark of this subzone of the Salnés Valley.
