Attis Espadeiro 2018 shows the most Atlantic side of Galician reds. As its name indicates, it is a single-varietal of espadeiro, a native grape almost extinct in Rías Baixas. It was in 2012 when Attis Bodega y Viñedos decided to embark on the recovery of almost forgotten local red varieties and, thus, add new references to its already attractive portfolio of great whites.
In the village of Meaño, in the heart of the Salnés Valley, Attis Bodega y Viñedos works its vineyards. Like almost all the vines it owns, the espadeiro ones are also trellised (arranged in pergolas) and planted in sandy-clay granite soils, 100 meters above sea level. The influence of the Atlantic and this unique location, with a southwest orientation, endow the fruits with characteristic freshness and acidity. Qualities that were accentuated by the 12 months of aging in French oak barrels to which the wine was subjected.
Attis Espadeiro 2018 is a red wine true to its rustic and austere varietal character, which, thanks to its pleasant freshness, pairs perfectly with blue fish, cured cheeses, red meats, and offal dishes.
In appearance, Attis Espadeiro shows an intense purple color.
The nose is complex, with predominant aromas of very ripe fruit, licorice, and intense white flowers (lilies).
On the palate, it is powerful. Elegant tannic structure prolonged by great acidity.
