Attis Brancellao 2022 is an absolutely elegant, artisanal red wine full of freshness and subtlety. A single-varietal wine made from the underrated Galician grape brancellao, of which Attis Bodega y Viñedos has produced only 300 bottles. This true collector's gem, with a distinctive Atlantic personality and excellent aging potential, showcases a sumptuousness and finesse that elevate it as one of the best red wines from Rías Baixas.
The origin of Attis Brancellao 2022 lies in the finest grapes ripened in a selection of plots cultivated on trellises by the Pontevedra-based winery Attis Bodega y Viñedos, on granitic entisol soils with a sandy-clay texture, in the heart of the Salnés Valley.
After manual harvesting, the winemaking process begins at the winery facilities with the destemming and pressing of the grapes, followed by spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in open 225-liter barrels. Subsequently, the wine macerates for 15 days, with two daily punch-downs, and after malolactic fermentation, it rests for 12 months in French oak barrels for refinement. After this aging period, the wine is clarified with egg whites and seawater, filtered, and then bottled.
Born into a family with a long history linked to viticulture, brothers Robustiano and Baldomero Fariña, together with French winemaker Jean François Hébrand, launched their own winery in the year 2000. Under the mythological name of Attis, the winery is today one of the most interesting names in the D.O. Rías Baixas, thanks to the diversity and immense quality of its wines, marked by their Atlantic character and varietal expression.
Delicate and refined, Attis Brancellao showcases a complex nose where pink fruit aromas stand out, followed by mineral nuances.
On the palate, it is expressive and rounded, with a very pronounced acidity that brings a magnificent freshness to the whole. Great length.
