General Information

Attis Atalante 2020 is a creation of Attis bodega y Viñedos, who, true to their spirit and identity, like to resort to Greek mythology to name and explain their wines. In the case of Attis Atalante, the variety caíño blanco with which it is entirely made perfectly represents, for the Galician firm, the duality of Atalanta, the lioness that guided the chariot of Attis, lover of the goddess Cybele. And indeed, this grape native to Pontevedra lands exhibits, on one hand, a fresh, delicate, and floral character, which evokes the young woman of the myth, and on the other hand, reveals the intensity and fierceness of the beast she became.

Attis Bodega y Viñedos makes its unique single-varietal Attis Atalante with caíño blanco grapes from a vineyard planted in granitic and clay soils, arranged in pergolas (traditional trellises), 80 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Valle del Salnés. Its production includes the manual harvest and selection of the fruits, their spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in French oak barrels, and subsequent aging in these barrels, with their fine lees and batonnage, for 12 months. Precisely this time in wood gives the wine complexity and volume, which add to the lightness, aromaticity, and good acidity typical of the varietal. All these qualities make Attis Atalante the ideal option to accompany creamy and intense cheeses, the tastiest seafood, and meaty fish.

The recovery of minority and/or almost disappeared native varieties is one of the commitments of Attis Bodega y Viñedos, a firm founded in 2000 by brothers Robustiano and Baldomero Fariña. From one of the best subzones of the D.O. Rías Baixas, they produce wines that represent the most Atlantic flavor of Galicia. This is the case of this Attis Atalante 2020 that the Club presents to you, a white wine with great aromatic potential and aging capacity, but of limited production (less than 1000 bottles). A small gem worth discovering.

Tasting notes

Attis Atalante displays a bright yellow color with golden reflections.

Very complex nose, with a predominance of white flowers and intense mineral notes. Fresh and delicate.

Great acidity and very mineral profile on the palate. Fine with a long and persistent finish.

The winery

In the heart of the Salnés Valley, specifically in the municipality of Meaño, lies Attis Bodega y Viñedos, a family-owned winery that produces authentic, artisanal, and Atlantic wines.

All the winery's creations are made from native varieties of the D.O. Rías Baixas, crafted with the utmost care and respect for the environment and the vines, from cultivation to vinification, including the harvest. The production is entirely artisanal, resulting in wines with a distinct Atlantic character and high salinity, a hallmark of this subzone of the Salnés Valley.
