Astrales Christina 2019 is a red wine made entirely from Tempranillo, born from the selection of fruit from old vines over 100 years old, rooted in the clay-limestone soils of the Burgos village of Anguix, in the heart of Ribera del Duero. Following a philosophy of minimal intervention, at Los Astrales winery, they ensure that gravity does most of the work. The grapes are manually selected and, through gravity transfer, the harvest reaches a 50 hl tank, where fermentation takes place with native yeasts. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrels and completes its production with 18 months of aging in extra-fine grain French oak barrels.
Los Astrales is a family winery with a history spanning more than three generations. Founded in 2000 by the Romera de la Cruz family, it currently owns 29 hectares of vineyards located in Anguix, a municipality in the heart of Ribera del Duero. Drawing from their solid experience as viticulturists, they work under the premise of prioritizing quality, always respecting the raw material and achieving maximum aromatic expression and intensity. Thus, their wines reflect the essence of Ribera del Duero.
Under the designation of origin D.O. Ribera del Duero, Astrales Christina 2019 exemplifies the Ribera del Duero personality, presenting itself as luscious, velvety, and very elegant. A wine that will evolve sensationally in the bottle over the coming years and is the perfect pairing for Castilian roasts, red meats, and white meats.
Bodegas Los Astrales emerged in the year 2000 in the D.O. Ribera del Duero as an initiative of the Romera de la Cruz family, the third generation of winegrowers in Anguix (Burgos), who until then had been grape suppliers for the most prestigious wineries in Ribera del Duero. Thus, they decided to take the leap into winemaking by partnering with the winemaker Eduardo García (Mauro, San Román, and Leda). After his departure in 2013, José Hidalgo, one of the most renowned winemakers in the country, took over the design of the wines.
With vineyards of Tinta Fina (Tempranillo) inherited from the previous generation of the family, Los Astrales produces modern-style wines, structured, with magnificent fruit expression and elegance, which achieve high scores from the most influential critics.
