General Information

Bodega Mesquida Mora is one of the most attractive and interesting wineries in the Balearic scene. Its emergence in 2012, led by its founder, the young winemaker Bárbara Mesquida Mora, brought a breath of fresh air with creations like this Acrollam Blanc 2023, a fresh wine, full of fruit, the result of biodynamic and respectful viticulture and winemaking with the grape and the terroir from which they come.

Moreover, in addition to being an ode to its origin (Acrollam is Mallorca reversed), this delightful coupage symbolizes Bodega Mesquida Mora’s desire to do things their own way, moving away from established norms. Hence their commitment to native varieties, little known to the general public, such as premsal (or prensal) and giró ros, which take center stage in this white wine brought to you by the Club.

After the manual selection of the best fruits, cold pre-fermentation maceration was carried out, and the fermentation of each variety was done separately. Once this step was completed, the final blending was carried out. The wine remained on its fine lees for 4 months and was bottled without adding sulfur. Acrollam Blanc 2023 is an island wine, reminiscent of the most Mediterranean inland Mallorca. Enjoy it on its own or paired with dishes like lobster rice, lobster stew, or grilled fish.

Tasting notes

Of a brilliant golden color.

Nose dominated by subtle aromas of white flowers and white fruits such as williams pear and well-ripened golden apple.

On the palate, it is enveloping and graceful.

The winery

Bodega Mesquida Mora is a young Mallorcan winery born from the passion for wine of philologist and winemaker Bárbara Mesquida Mora. Although it was founded in 2012, the winery, based in the town of Porreres, is the heir to an important family winemaking tradition that dates back to 1945. It was in that year when her grandfather, a modest farmer cultivating apricots and vineyards on his small lands, decided to start producing his own wine due to the low prices he received for selling his grapes.

Bárbara's father inherited the company, which, under the name Jaume Mesquida, gained great prominence on the island, being a pioneer in introducing foreign varieties such as cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and syrah. Between 2004 and 2012, the young winemaker worked intensively in the family business until she decided to venture out on her own.

Mesquida Mora builds its project on respecting the family wine heritage of its founder and owner, starting with the choice of the winery's name, taken from her paternal and maternal surnames, and on 20 hectares of biodynamic vineyard. A significant part of this vineyard is made up of old vines over 40 years of age of those foreign varieties, while the rest consists of native varieties such as prensal, giró (or garnacha), callet, and manto negro. With all these, the winery produces wines under the protected geographical indication of V.T. Mallorca, aiming to express their full potential: three reds, two whites, and two rosés that stand out for their vibrancy and truly appealing authenticity.
