In the highest vineyards of the D.O. Ribera del Duero originates 62 Millas al Cielo 2022, a single-variety red wine (tempranillo) that has been aged for 9 months in French and American oak barrels. Its name refers to the distance between the Pago del Cielo winery and the Kármán line, the boundary that separates our atmosphere from outer space. This beautiful metaphor translates into an exceptional wine that stands out for its silkiness, its aromatic intensity, and its warm and pleasant finish.

62 miles is the distance that separates the Pago de Cielo winery in Fompedraza (Valladolid) from the Kármán line, the boundary between the atmosphere and outer space; the place where the sky is born. From this Castilian municipality, 62 Millas al Cielo 2023 is produced, an exceptional red wine made entirely from tinto fino grapes from vineyards planted at the same time as the founding of the Familia Torres riverside winery. This red wine stands out for its natural freshness, thanks to grapes harvested at optimal ripeness and cultivated at the high altitudes of the Castilian plateaus.
The brand Celeste (Bodega Pago del Cielo) was born in 2005 with its red wine produced in the Valladolid town of Fompedraza, in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. Three reds later (roble, crianza, and reserva), the winery added a verdejo produced in Villafranca del Duero, in the heart of the D.O. Rueda. The Celeste range, distinguished by its labels adorned with the starry sky of harvest nights, closed the circle with a Rosé produced in Cigales. These are the foundations of Pago del Cielo, the Familia Torres wine project in Castilla y León, which brings together the qualities of three of the most renowned wine regions in the area (Ribera del Duero, Rueda, and Cigales) to produce high-quality wines, under the guidance of its winemaker Juan Ramón García.
62 Millas al Cielo 2023 is one of their latest releases. This single-varietal tempranillo, within the D.O. Ribera del Duero, aged for 9 months in French and American oak barrels. Its time in wood imparted delicate spicy notes and a silky, warm palate to the wine. Qualities that make it the ideal red to accompany a wide variety of dishes such as roast lamb, stews and casseroles, pasta with tomato-based sauces, or eggplant Parmesan.
Pago del Cielo is the winemaking project of the Familia Torres (winemakers from Penedès since 1870) based in two privileged regions for vine cultivation, Ribera del Duero and Rueda. Tradition, commitment to quality, and passion for viticulture come together in this project led by winemaker Juan Ramón García, which began to take shape in 2004 with the purchase of a small winery in Fompedraza, in the Campo de Peñafiel region (Valladolid), and currently has 45 hectares of owned vineyards.
It also includes the winery that Familia Torres has in Villafranca del Duero, in Rueda, since 2014, with its 20 hectares of vineyards. Pago del Cielo produces seven labels: the tinto fino wines Pago del Cielo, the new icon of the winery, Celeste Reserva, Celeste Crianza, Celeste Roble, and 62 Millas al Cielo, under the D.O. Ribera del Duero, the white Celeste Verdejo (D.O. Rueda), and Celeste Rosé (D.O. Cigales).
