One of the best Rioja rosés
An impeccably crafted classic Rioja rosé from one of the leading wineries based in Haro’s station district. It’s fresh and fruity, but also serious and elegant.
General information
Aro, Prado Enea and Torre Muga are among the best reds in the country. Muga is less well-known for its excellent rosé, one of the best in Rioja. Muga Rosado 2022 is a blend of Garnacha and Viura. The vines grow in chiefly calcareous-clay soils around the Oja Valley and in ferrous-clay soils in the upper Najerilla area.
The grapes were harvested by hand. After being lightly macerated in the press for 5 hours, the must was fermented at a low temperature for 12 to 20 days to preserve its intensity and fresh aromas. It was then aged on its fine lees for 16 weeks to enhance its complexity, smoothness and length on the palate.
Muga (1932) is one of the most reliable and iconic wineries in Rioja. Based in Haro’s Station district, the latest generation of an illustrious family continues to make wines that are notable for their quality, the result of the exhaustive work carried out both in the vineyard and the winery, and the meticulous selection of barrels crafted from oak from the best European and North American forests. Muga is one of the very few Spanish wineries that has a cooperage to make its own barrels.
Muga Rosado 2022 (D.O.Ca. Rioja) is perfect with dishes such as chicken in an almond sauce (pollo en pepitoria) or clams a la marinera.
Creators’ opinion
"
The 2022 vintage of Muga Rosado is notable for its pale pink colour. Highly intense and complex nose, with initial notes of peach, strawberry and white flowers. Very well integrated, full, good balance of fruit on the palate and a very long finish of stone fruit and citrussy notes.
