General information
Martín Códax is a giant from the D.O. Rías Baixas that has expanded into other Galician Denominaciones such as the small D.O. Monterrei, located south of Ourense, that is home to Mara Martín 2021: 97 points and a Platinum prize at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2022. This single-varietal wine made from Godello grapes was fermented in stainless steel tanks and is aromatic and fresh, yet mature, with a magnificent balance between fruit and acidity.
Monterrei is Galicia’s smallest D.O. It was established in 1996 and is proving that it deserves greater recognition. Its white wines are based on the Godello grape and display complex aromas, freshness and good structure in the mouth.
Martín Códax started out in 1986 as a cooperative founded by a group of 50 grape growers of Rías Baixas. It is currently a leading firm with a strong international presence and a foremost name in R&D in Galicia. At the turn of the century it went from being a winery to a group, and currently makes wine in other Denominaciones such as Monterrei and Bierzo.
Mara Martín 2021 (D.O. Monterrei) is ideal with boiled or grilled seafood, grilled salmon and mild cheeses, as well as appetisers.

Mara Martín is yellow with greenish highlights, bright and crystal-clear. Notes of white fruit, hay and delicate hints of dairy are predominant in the nose. Dense and mouth-coating on the attack, with a structure notable for its fresh sensation and a long finish.
