White Collection – For Everyone 2023
On the second highest rung of the prestige pyramid – below the reds – Spanish white wines have carved out a place for themselves in the international market. These complex, enticing wines compete to the highest standards of quality and individuality. For this collection we’ve brought together three whites from Rioja, Rueda and Rías Baixas made from the native grapes that have earned their respective Denominaciones their fame.

General information
2 bottles of Viña Pomal Blanco 2022. Bodegas Bilbaínas. D.O.Ca. Rioja.
Bodegas Bilbaínas belongs to the privileged group of century-old Rioja wineries. And their Viña Pomal brand is one of the most renowned Spanish wine labels. This barrel-fermented wine is in keeping with the Rioja Alta region’s tradition of fresh and balanced whites. It’s made from the two traditional Rioja white varieties: Viura and Malvasía, which were fermented in oak. Complex nose with subtle toasty notes and full, pleasant and fresh on the palate.
2 bottles of Protos Verdejo 2022. Bodegas Protos. D.O. Rueda.
Protos is one of the most renowned Spanish wineries. Originally from Ribera del Duero, it’s expanded into the nearby D.O. Rueda. And its whites – fifteen vintages to date – have made a name for themselves. Protos Verdejo 2022 was grown on vineyards more than 15 years old planted in unirrigated, pebbly soil at an altitude of between 700 and 800 metres that’s conducive to grapes with magnificent acidity. The grapes were harvested at night to preserve their freshness and the wine was aged on the lees for 3 months.
2 bottles of Enxebre 2022. Adega Condes de Albarei. D.O. Rías Baixas.
Created by one of the wineries chiefly responsible for the prestige of the D.O. Rías Baixas: only three years after it was established, in 1991, Condes de Albarei designed the first Spanish white to win a gold medal at the Bordeaux Challenge International du Vin. It’s also one of the firms that owns the most vineyards in the D.O.: an impressive 300 hectares, an unusually large expanse for a region of smallholdings. Enxebre 2022 comes from vines more than 40 years old that were harvested by hand, and was aged on the lees in stainless steel vats.
