In 1980, two years before the D.O. was established, brothers Benjamín, Manuel and Adolfo Pérez Pascuas broke away from the cooperative in their home village of Pedrosa de Duero (Burgos) to set up a winery that’s been growing for more than four decades, with 120 hectares of vineyards of unquestionable quality where the red Tinto Fino or Tempranillo variety prevails.
To speak of Hermanos Pérez Pascuas and Viña Pedrosa today is to speak of one of the wineries that make a difference on the Spanish wine scene. With more than 40 years’ experience under its belt, it’s earned a reputation as a leading firm on the basis of the quality of its wines, grown on privileged vines in a legendary area of Ribera del Duero: Pedrosa de Duero, which is famous both in and outside Spain.
Viña Pedrosa Colección 2020 is the third edition of this wine, which was first made from grapes harvested in 2016. For this event we’ve picked a vintage of outstanding quality – not only because it’s rated Excellent but because 2020 was one of the winery’s best harvests of the past 20 years. It’s a special wine that pays tribute to this family’s winemaking tradition and to the area it comes from, Ribera del Duero. In short, it’s the highest expression of a Viña Pedrosa made exclusively for Vinoselección.

Attractive ripe cherry-red colour with a very deep garnet-red rim, bright and brilliant; very intense pigmentation.
Elegant, concentrated and highly fragrant nose. Initial blend of delicious floral notes, hints of red fruits (redcurrants and cranberries) and complex spicy notes (clove and vanilla), followed by resiny notes and very subtle hints of noble and toasted woods.
Round and full-flavoured on the attack, with an excellent structure that displays a great balance between acidity, body and alcohol. Very fine tannins lend it a full, velvety mid-palate, with sensations of ripe red fruits that predominate over the flavours from ageing in oak. Very long finish marked by delicate toasty and resiny notes and hints of very ripe red fruit.
