General information
Protos has chosen the La Seca region for its Appellation Rueda wine, with experts concluding that this area offers the best quality verdejo grapes. Protos Verdejo 2021 is a single varietal wine, in which the grapes really speak for themselves and the typicity of the zone truly comes through. This wine was produced from vines planted more than 15 years ago in unirrigated gravelly soil land at a high altitude -between 700 and 800 m-, resulting in grapes which boast magnificent acidity. The grapes are harvested during the night to preserve all of the freshness of the fruit. The wine is matured on fine lees for approximately 3 months (with the content sampled on a tank-by-tank basis). The Protos winery is synonymous with quality and it is one of the most renowned wineries on the Spanish wine-scene. With its origins in the Ribera del Duero, Protos has now stretched out over the nearby Appellation Rueda. And, as one might expect after having placed fourteen vintages on the market, these white wines remain extremely popular amongst consumers. Protos remains at the forefront once more.
Protos Verdejo 2021 (D.O. Rueda) goes well with rice made with rabbit and vegetables, or other dishes such as chicken fricassée.

Color: Pale yellow in colour with greenish hues reflecting its youth. Very clean and bright.
Nose: Medium-high and complex aroma The fresh tropical flavours like pineapple and citrus aromas really come through, with white fruits (apple) and herbaceous notes (boxwood and fennel), typical of the verdejo variety.
Palate: A dry wine with a surprising entry on the palate, bringing together freshness and a natural acidity that is moderated and balanced with the roundness, body and structure attained through its maturation on fine lees. Lightly bitter, characteristic of the verdejo grape and with a long persistence leaving a pleasant after-taste.
