Enxebre 2022
Albariño with carbonic maceration
Enxebre 2022 is a delicious Albariño designed by the masterful hand of José Hidalgo using the traditional method of carbonic maceration. The grapes come from old vines in the historic Salnés Valley, the largest, coolest subzone of the D.O. Rías Baixas that’s also closest to the Atlantic. It exudes aromas of herbs, white fruit (pear) and flowers. In the mouth it’s fresh, glycerous and balanced, with hints of citrus fruits and a long, slightly bitter finish.
General information
Enxebre 2022 is a sensational young Albariño produced using the carbonic maceration method (intact bunches), matured on fine lees in stainless steel vats. Its Albariño grapes come from vines that are more than 40 years old and grow in the Salnés Valley, regarded by many as the best part of the D.O. Rías Baixas. They were harvested by hand in 20-kg crates and the bunches were sorted twice, in both vineyard and winery.
It was created by one of the wineries that has done the most to secure the D.O. Rías Baixas the prestige it currently enjoys: only three years after it started out in 1991, Condes de Albarei produced the first white wine from Spain to win a gold medal at the Challenge International du Vin in Bordeaux. Adega Condes de Albarei also owns more vineyards than the majority of wineries in the D.O. Rías Baixas: no less than 300 hectares, unusual for a region where smallholdings are predominant. What’s more, their wines offer the quality guarantee provided by the expert hand of winemaker José Hidalgo.
Enxebre Albariño 2022 (D.O. Rías Baixas) is perfect with soupy rice with lobster, boiled or grilled seafood or Galician-style octopus.
