General information
EMILIO MORO 2020. Bodegas Emilio Moro. D.O. Ribera del Duero.
An icon in Ribera del Duero. With more than three decades of history under its belt, this firm has become a leading name among Spanish wineries as it’s particularly skilled at combining respect for a winemaking tradition inherited from the previous two generations with innovation to produce terroir wines that are trendsetters in Ribera del Duero. Emilio Moro 2020 is a single-varietal wine made from Tinto Fino grapes that’s elegant with a powerful personality and expresses all the rich nuances of the soils where it was grown and all the complexity of an Excellent-rated vintage. A must-have among today’s Ribera del Duero wines.
VIÑA POMAL GRAN RESERVA 2016. Bodegas Bilbaínas. D.O.Ca. Rioja.
Founded in 1901, Bodegas Bilbaínas is the living history of Rioja. And Viña Pomal is something of an icon in the region. This brand started out in 1904 and embodies the past, present and future, because a sip of this wine sums up the essence of classical Riojas – their elegance and aromas. The key to the success of Viña Pomal Gran Reserva 2016 lies in its origins: it comes from one of the largest vineyards in the Denominación de Origen, 120 hectares of the highest quality vines that have earned fame for the wines made by this firm, one of most prestigious in Spain.
MARQUÉS DE MURRIETA Selección Exclusiva y Limitada de la añada 2020. Bodega Marqués de Murrieta. D.O.Ca. Rioja.
Marqués de Murrieta is something of a legend on the Spanish wine scene and is responsible for creating some of the best reds in the world. It was one of the first wineries to be established in La Rioja (Logroño, 1852). The red we’re offering you is made from grapes grown on the unique Finca Ygay estate and is a superb blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano in which each variety was aged separately, partly in French oak barrels and partly in concrete vats for 12 months.
FINCA VILLACRECES 2019. Finca Villacreces. D.O. Ribera del Duero.
The winery is located in the grounds of a former abbey in Quintanilla de Onésimo (Valladolid), at a bend in the river and in the ‘golden mile’ of Ribera del Duero, an area where all winegrowers long to own one of its outstanding vineyards but very few succeed. There, one of the most spectacular plots in the Denominación de Origen is home to the marvellous Finca Villacreces 2019, a blend of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from an Excellent-rated vintage.
CM PRESTIGIO 2019. Bodega CM de Matarromera. D.O.Ca. Rioja.
Everyone both in and outside Spain has heard of Matarromera. It’s one of the wineries that put Ribera del Duero on the international wine map and a few years ago it brought its knowhow to Rioja, where it’s lately enjoyed resounding success with its wines. A good example is the impressive CM Prestigio 2019, a Tempranillo from one of the best vintages of the last decade in Rioja Alta, which was rated Excellent. A must-have for an unrepeatable collection.
ARZUAGA RESERVA 2019. Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro. D.O. Ribera del Duero.
Arzuaga Navarro is one of the leading Ribera del Duero firms and its wines are acclaimed by critics and wine lovers alike. It’s a cutting-edge winery in the region and is furthermore located in one of the best areas of the country for growing Tempranillo grapes: Quintanilla de Onésimo (province of Valladolid). This Reserva is the spectacular result of a successful blend of the Tinta del País variety, chiefly from century-old vines, with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It comes from a vintage that was rated Excellent in the D.O. and is simply spectacular.
