Carlos and Pilar Martínez Bujanda hail from one of the oldest and most highly reputed winemaking families in Rioja. The fourth and fifth generations of this famous dynasty are currently at the helm of the business and run Viña Bujanda from Oyón. They’re conscientious workers with good taste who strive for excellence – as attested by Viña Bujanda Reserva 2018, a Tempranillo made from a combination of grapes from Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa and barrel aged for 24 months. Complex nose and full, fresh, elegant and very long on the palate.

Félix Azpilicueta, a pioneer who founded his first winery in 1881 in Fuenmayor (Rioja Alta), is one of the most important figures in the history of Rioja wine. Only the winery’s high-end wines like this one bear his name. What’s more, it was created by one of the most highly reputed winemakers in Spain: Elena Adell. Félix Azpilicueta Reserva 2018 is a classic Rioja blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo grapes and was aged for 21 months in oak barrels.

This is their most renowned label and a modern classic in Rioja: Conde Valdemar Reserva 2015. It’s made from a blend of Tempranillo (chiefly), Graciano, Maturana and Garnacha, and was grown on vines located in Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta. Nineteen months in barrels followed by a period of maturation in the bottle lend it finesse, elegance and rich complexity. Winner of a gold medal at Mundus Vini.
