General Information

Cava Mont-Ferrant L'Americano Organic Brut Nature adds a touch of Chardonnay (5%) to the classic Cava recipe (Macabeo, Xarel.lo and Parellada). It’s made as a Brut Nature (no added sugar) and has been aged in stacks for between 15 and 20 months.

Caves Mont-Ferrant was one of the pioneering wineries in the production of Cava. Founded in Blanes (Girona) in 1865 by Agustí Vilaret, a pioneer who, after returning from the Antilles at 45, established a firm that produced wine in the style of the Champagne region. He was nicknamed ‘the American of Blanes’.

Vilaret purchased a country house, the masía Mas Ferrant, planted vineyards, built a winery and launched the first Mont-Ferrant made from the 1872 harvest. The winery currently belongs to the Raventós Codorníu group.

Cava Mont-Ferrant L'Americano Organic Brut Nature (D.O. Cava) is ideal with aperitifs such as Ibérico ham and is also perfect with soupy rice with lobster.

Creators' opinion

The initial fruitiness gradually develops into a creamy, sweet phase that offsets the excellent maturity the wine has acquired over time. The bubbles produce a tingling sensation in the mouth and delicious deep citrussy and smoky aromas ending with mineral notes from Chardonnay.

Mont-Ferrant

Caves Mont Ferrant was one of the pioneering wineries in the production of cava. In 1865, in Blanes (Girona), Mont Ferrant cellars were founded by Agustí Vilaret, the pioneering producer of sparkling wines who embarked on the project of producing in the style of the French Champagne region. Vilaret purchased the Mas Ferran estate, and in its first vintage, in 1872, the winery demonstrated its quality and enormous future potential by participating in the Barcelona Exhibition Contest, with documented evidence showing that Mont-Ferrant is the oldest cava producer in our country, the very first.
