General Information

Marimar Albariño 2020 is a wine that, after several unsuccessful experimental plantations, found its home in the Don Miguel vineyard, a terroir named in honor of the patriarch of the Torres family and located in California's Russian River Valley, specifically in its coldest and foggiest area, Green Valley.

Marimar Torres, a member of the renowned Catalan winemaking family, chose to cultivate Albariño in this location to produce a white wine of exceptional quality, akin to those crafted in Rías Baixas. Marimar Albariño 2020 is an elevated, aromatic, lively wine with vibrant acidity, perfect for pairing with tapas, raw seafood or grilled dishes (oysters, clams), smoked salmon, or sushi. The New World's Albariño benchmark.

Tasting notes

Beautiful straw yellow color.

Nose marked by intense classic aromas of the varietal, ranging from white flowers and citrus (lime) to white and tropical fruit. Elegant mineral touches reminiscent of wet stones.

On the palate, it is lively, round, and vibrant. With vibrant acidity and a saline, elegant, and refreshing finish.

The winery

Marimar Estate Vineyards & Winery is the Californian winery of the Torres family, a renowned dynasty with a long winemaking tradition present in a significant number of Spanish appellations of origin (Penedès, Catalunya, Costers del Segre, Conca de Barberà, Priorat, Ribera del Duero, Rueda, Rías Baixas, and Rioja) and in Chile since 1979.

The company began its journey in 1986 under the leadership of Marimar Torres, with the planting of the first 24 hectares of vineyards in the western hills of Sonoma County. Currently, Marimar Estate Vineyards & Winery manages over 100 hectares, certified organic, spread across the American Viticultural Areas (AVA) of Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast, with chardonnay, pinot noir, and albariño as the predominant varieties. The Californian wines of the Torres family are distinguished by their pronounced European style. Complex, expressive, and elegant, they have earned prestige both in the U.S. market and internationally.
