General Information

The variety of soils in Clos de Vougeot—gravel and limestone at the top of the slope, and soil, marl, and clay at the bottom—imbues great complexity and power to the pinot noir that stars solo in Bouchard Père & Fils Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2017.

This elegant and velvety red, with delicate aromas of berries and spices, originates from a vineyard planted in 1110 by Cistercian monks. The enclosed area housing the vines spans 50 hectares and is shared by 80 different owners. Bouchard Père & Fils, a historic Burgundy winery, is one of them, owning 0.45 hectares from which this magnificent pinot noir is born, one of their most exclusive labels.

The exceptional quality of the grapes and the meticulous craftsmanship, hallmark of the maison Bouchard Père & Fils, ensures that this Bouchard Père & Fils Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2017, brought to you by the Club, is an exceptional red wine, already at its peak, which will age splendidly for another 10 to 20 years. Its ideal pairing includes red meats, especially roasted or in sauce, small game dishes, and medium-aged cheeses.

Tasting notes

Complex nose of black and red berries complemented by a spicy touch.

Dazzling elegance on the palate with a perfect combination of finesse. Very good aging potential.

The winery

The French commune of Beaune has been home, since 1731, to Bouchard Père & Fils, one of the oldest maisons in the Burgundy region. The property boasts a castle built by Louis XI in 1482 and one of the most impressive winegrowing heritages in the area: 130 hectares of vineyards in the legendary Côte d’Or, 12 of which are Grand Cru and another 74 Premier Cru.

Combining tradition with the latest technical advancements, the winery has managed to preserve its essence and the exceptional quality of its wines, making them indispensable references of Burgundy. Diversity is another hallmark of Bouchard Père & Fils, reflected in the different appellations under which it produces its creations, including Chevalier-Montrachet, Montrachet, Corton, Corton-Charlemagne, Meursault Genevriêres, Gevrey-Chambertin, Chassage-Montrachet, and Beaune.
