Áster Finca El Caño Reserva 2018 is one of the wines that have made the greatest impact on Vinoselección’s recent history. Now we’re repeating the experience to bring you the latest vintage of this exclusive Ribera from La Rioja Alta S.A., one of the most famous wine groups. Áster Finca El Caño Reserva 2018 is a superb single-variety Tempranillo produced in a château winery from a selection of grapes grown on a privileged estate: El Caño

We know how addictive Áster Finca El Caño is, both the Crianza and the Reserva versions. Two years ago, when we offered you the Reserva 2016, all the cases were sold out in a matter of days. We’ve therefore negotiated a new deal with the owners of La Rioja Alta, S.A. to be able to bring you this magnificent exclusive Ribera. You can now enjoy Áster Finca El Caño Reserva 2018, a superb single-variety Tempranillo made by a château winery from a selection of grapes grown on a privileged estate, El Caño, and matured to perfection for 16 months in French oak.

As part of its expansion plan, La Rioja Alta S.A. decided to branch out into the D.O. Ribera del Duero, where it established Bodegas y Viñedos Áster in 2000. This new company combines a desire to achieve excellence in winemaking with the philosophy of using only its own grapes to make estate wines in the strictest sense, such as this Finca El Caño. Áster currently owns 95 hectares of Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) vines located between Anguix and La Horra (Burgos) in one of the best areas of the D.O. Ribera del Duero.

Áster Finca El Caño Reserva 2018 is ideal with char-grilled meats, roast suckling lamb and fillet steak and also goes well with Ibérico pork cold cuts and mature cheeses.

Tasting Notes

Profile sheet Áster Finca El Caño 2018

Deep cherry-red colour. Fine, intense nose with predominant aromas of ripe red fruit together with notes of cocoa, chocolate liqueurs and coffee; floral background notes. Fresh attack thanks to its acidic bite; tasty, balanced and creamy mid-palate with fine, nicely integrated tannins; and a long, lingering finish.
