General information

A must-have Rioja for an incredible price

Be sure not to miss out on this elegant Reserva made from the best grapes grown by the winery in Rioja Alta, a real gem of a wine.

Although Ramón Bilbao is one of the wineries with the longest history in Rioja, the turn of the twenty-first century witnessed a thorough revamp in its winemaking style which did not, however, affect the essence of its wines in the slightest. A good example is this spectacular Ramón Bilbao Reserva 2012, blend of typical Rioja varieties (Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano) that has been aged for 20 months in American oak barrels. This elegant, complex, expressive, tasty and lingering Reserva is an undeniable delight for the senses.

Bodegas Ramón Bilbao was founded in 1924 by Ramón Bilbao Murga and since 1999 it has belonged to the Grupo Zamora directed by Emilio Restoy Cabrera. It was one of the pioneers in the art of barrel ageing and has few rivals in its mastery of the technique in Spain. This latest stage is notable for its plan to modernise its facilities and the style of its wines owing largely to the acquisition of vineyards under production and the planting of new vines in Rioja.

Cherry-red with garnet highlights.

Complex, very expressive nose with aromas of ripe red fruit (cranberries) and toasty, dairy and balsamic notes over a smoky background of fine and aromatic woods. Well-structured in the mouth, tasty, fresh and nicely balanced. Lively, supple, fluid and fruity on mid-palate. Lingering, elegant minerally finish.

Delicious with entrecote in pepper sauce, Ibérico cold cuts, semi-mature cheeses and oily fish.
