Ramón Bilbao, which has been around for nearly a century, is one of the most traditional and highly regarded wineries of Rioja Alta. The firm’s Reserva is one of its most internationally renowned wines, a red with a classical style adapted to modern tastes. We’re offering you an exclusive version created specially for Vinoselección: Ramón Bilbao Club Reserva 2016, made wholly from Tempranillo grapes and aged for 18 months in American oak barrels.

Bodegas Ramón Bilbao started out in 1924 in Haro, the cradle of Rioja wine. Their oenologist, Rodolfo Bastida, played a key role in the revamp Rioja underwent in the 1990s to give its wines fruitier flavours and greater concentration. Today this firm enjoys a widespread presence on the Spanish market, as well as a good reputation with international critics and a large bunch of prizes for its wines. Since 1999 it has belonged to the Restoy-Zamora family, one of the most important beverage companies in Spain.

Ramón Bilbao Club Reserva 2016 (D.O.Ca. Rioja) is ideal with hotpots such as stewed lentils and fabada (bean stew). It’s equally good with red meats like entrecote and mature cheeses.

Gorgeous, very ripe cherry-red colour with deep garnet at the edge. Complex, elegant and intensely aromatic nose displaying a whole range of nuances: notes of aniseed and balsam, hints of patisserie, delicate toasty overtones, subtle hints of cocoa and dark chocolate together with sharp notes of black jammy fruit.

Tasty, meaty and well-structured palate and a great balance of acidity, body and alcohol with velvety tannins that lend it volume. Complex, lingering finish with abundant spicy, fruity and toasty notes.

Perfect with lamb hotpot or pork fillet with forest fruit sauce.
