General information

If you’re the kind who believes in dressing smartly or enjoys classic films, then Martínez Lacuesta’s Reserva 2015 is the wine for you. Because its elegance doesn’t just lie in the aristocratic appearance of the bottle. It’s been aged for 30 months in barrels (made by the winery itself) and matured to perfection for a further 36 months in the bottle. When you bring it out nobody will be able to resist tasting it.

The Martínez Lacuesta family have been devoting themselves to the noble art of winemaking in one of the best areas of Rioja, Haro, for over a century. The family are pleased to offer you Martínez Lacuesta Reserva 2015, a limited-yield red made from grapes specially selected for wines with a long life from vineyards with an average age of 20 to 40 years. Martínez Lacuesta have believed in working with the best Riojan vineyards ever since they started out and continue to acquire the most desirable plots to plant new vines from which to make their range of wines. This century-old winery recently moved into new premises in Paraje de Ubieta, at the heart of Rioja Alta. Their modern new premises span more than 16,000 m². The entire production area is located beneath a large expanse of vineyards to provide thermal insulation. Also underground are the nearly 6,000 m² of cellars that house the 7,500 French and American oak barrels the firm currently owns.

Tasting Notes

Profile sheet Martínez Lacuesta 2015

Attractive ruby-red colour with brick-red at the edge, medium intensity of colour.

Subtle and pleasant nose in which aromas of ripe black fruit (blueberries and blackberries) together with elegant notes of spice (black pepper, bay leaf and clove) give way to hints of toasted nuts, ending with pleasant reduction aromas (leather and tobacco).

Velvety, well-structured palate with well-polished tannins that are perfectly blended with the fruity flavours. Just the right acidity gives it a good balance. Long, lingering finish marked by the spicy notes detected in the nose.
