It all started with a group of friends who belonged to a gastronomic society and a shared project as bold as it was risky: to create a new winery in Rioja at the height of the golden age of Spanish wine. Although this was back in the 1970s, when competition was extreme, Bodegas Beronia has been growing ever since thanks largely to the drive of the González Byass group, who have owned the firm since 1982 and are directly responsible for establishing its international reputation.

Beronia’s main asset surrounds its facilities: 25 hectares of vineyards of its own plus 870 hectares of vineyards under its control in a radius of 10km and with an average age of 30 years. These magnificent and abundant vines ensure it high-quality ingredients every year and enable it to design a red like this Reserva: well-rounded, tasty and long on the palate.

A new vintage of one of the best-selling Rioja Reservas in the whole world. The grapes that went into making Beronia Reserva come from a selection of the oldest vines controlled by the winery: Tempranillo (95%), Graciano and Mazuelo. The wine has developed slowly and harmoniously thanks to a 19-month stint in barrels followed by (at least) 17 months in the bottle. Highly complex, fresh nose. Balanced acidity and volume on the palate with abundant flavours of fresh fruit and background notes of cocoa and mint.

Tasting Notes

Profile sheet Beronia 2015

Displays a shade of ruby-garnet red of moderately high intensity with brick-red glints at the rim.

Clean and classic aromas of good intensity; initial predominant balsamic and sweet spicy notes (clove, cinnamon) give way to hints of ripe black fruit and notes of cocoa and liquorice.

Tasty, fresh palate with well-balanced acidity and noble tannins and a juicy fruitiness that give it a very pleasant mouthfeel . Elegant and intriguing finish notable for the fruity and spicy notes of the nose.
