General information

The perfect combination of tradition and modernity in Rioja

Señorío de Amézola Reserva 2012 is a classic-style Reserva designed by one of the most prestigious wineries of Rioja Alta, whose origins date back to the end of the nineteenth century.

Señorío de Amézola Reserva 2012 is made from carefully selected grapes from the 70 hectares of vineyards that surround the Amézola de la Mora winery – in true chateau style – and has been aged for 15 months in American and oak barrels to afford it complexity, balance and depth.

Bodegas Amézola de la Mora was originally established in the early nineteenth century in Torre¬montalvo (Rioja Alta). After nearly a century of inactivity, in 1986 brothers Íñigo and Javier Amézola, the founder’s great-grandsons, resumed winemaking and have since then turned it into one of the most important wineries in the D.O.Ca. Rioja. It currently produces a full range of more than half a dozen wines of a remarkably high standard.

Bodegas Amézola de la Mora, a chateau-style winery, owns caves and underground cellars and 70 hectares of vineyards which grow the Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Graciano and Viura varieties.

Their Señorío de Amézola Reserva 2012 is ideal with white meats such as pork tenderloin with mushroom sauce and baby vegetables or char-grilled lamb chops, as well as beef dishes like stew with seasonal vegetables.

Spicy notes of cinnamon and vanilla in the nose, followed by hints of aniseed and a touch of smoke, ending with notes of cherries and very ripe cranberries.

Rounded, balanced and delicate palate with elegant, polished tannins that make for a pleasant mouthfeel with good tactile sensations. Excellent acidity gives it extra length on mid-palate. Abundant notes of ripe fruit blend with delicious notes from ageing in oak (spices). Delicate, complex and lingering finish (spicy and fruity notes).
