The Fernández Rivera family have put all the winemaking knowhow gained during nearly five decades of working in Ribera del Duero into this winery located in Campo de Criptana (Ciudad Real) beside the old railway station, under the watchful eye of the legendary windmills. They found the best dry-farmed old Tempranillo vineyards in the heart of Castile-La Mancha and applied their personal grape-growing and winemaking approach. El Vínculo Reserva 2015 and 2016 are the two latest vintages of a red that illustrates the greatness of one of the most important winemaking families in history – a family who have weathered the harshest of storms by working shoulder to shoulder and reinventing themselves without sacrificing their essence. Don’t miss the two latest vintages of this spectacular Reserva – this is a unique opportunity!

Tasting Notes

Profile sheet Collection Vinculo

Ruby-red with garnet at the edge, good depth of colour.

Highly complex and elegant nose in which initial pleasant dominant notes from reduction (leather) gradually give way to aromas of very ripe red fruit (raspberry jam) that lend it a very moreish overall feel, followed by spicy notes (vanilla, cinnamon) and touches of cedar, all in perfect harmony over a balsamic background with hints of undergrowth. Big, well-rounded, balanced and fleshy in the mouth, with well-blended tannins that make for a velvety mouthfeel and a superb acidic bite that predicts a long, promising future for this wine. Notes of spice and red fruit carry through to the long, lingering finish.

This new vintage of El Vínculo Reserva is perfect with game dishes such as loin of venison with sautéed wild mushrooms and apple sauce; or char-grilled meats such as T-bone steak with fries.

Serve at a temperature between 17 and 18.
