General information

The power of Aragonese Garnacha

Cutio Vendimia Seleccionada 2018 is one of the most highly considered wines in the D.O. Cariñena, a Denominación where Garnacha grapes are part of the local heritage. This variety, currently on the rise, is the basis of Cutio. It’s been aged in a combination of French oak casks and concrete vats.

Garnacha is all the rage. This variety grows in nearly all parts of Spain, especially regions like Aragón where the D.O. Cariñena is. Here Garnacha is an essential part of the heritage. Cutio Vendimia Seleccionada 2018 is made chiefly from this variety (85%), enhanced by another local grape: Cariñena (Mazuela).

The grapes come from a combination of plots and were picked at night to ensure a suitable temperature. One-third of the wine was aged for 10 months in French oak and the rest in concrete vats. This red is very modern in style, tasty and fruity, and has earned significant recognition from specialist critics; for example, this 2018 vintage was awarded 90 points by Robert Parker and 93 by James Suckling.

Cutio Vendimia Seleccionada 2018 (D.O. Cariñena) displays a deep ruby and violet colour and has deliciously crisp, fruity flavours of black cherries and raspberries with hints of cocoa and vanilla from its ageing in oak. It goes beautifully with dishes made from small game such as rabbit chasseur or gelatinous stews such as lamb’s trotters with wild mushrooms.
