Description

Carabal Viñedos y Bodega

Located in the southeast of the province of Cáceres (Extremadura), Bodegas Carabal is the ‘whim’ of the Banús family and one of the biggest wine projects of the past decade. In 2003 it set about reclaiming an old 55-hectare vineyard and restoring a delightful winery in ruins. Some of Spain’s most highly reputed experts were enlisted for this task, and the design of the winery was entrusted to winegrowing expert Professor José Ramón Lissarrague, who divided the vineyard into 35 plots.

Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Graciano, Petit Verdot and other experimental varieties were planted using different clones, rootstocks, spacing and training systems, turning Bodegas Carabal into a veritable testing ground.

The wines were made by the renowned oenological advisor Ignacio de Miguel, who masterfully interpreted each of the plots to produce wines from them independently, applying rigorous standards that could not fail to give rise to outstanding wines. Judge for yourself the quality of the first two vintages of this red, of which Vinoselección has managed to secure the last available bottles. Both vintages are rated Very Good.
