Bodegas Marqués de Cáceres
Marqués de Cáceres dates back to 1960, when Enrique Forner – from a family that owned a Grand Cru Classé, the Chateau Camensac, and the Chateau Larose Trintaudon – set up the winery with expert assistance from Émile Peynaud, in one of the best parts of Rioja Alta. Years later, when his daughter Cristina joined the family business, the winery turned to exports and soon found a place on the international wine market.
Its modern facilities are located in Cenicero, where they also have cellars in which about 40,000 barrels of red wine are left to age. Today the winery continues to show the same innovativeness as before, but now applied not so much to its vineyards as to the wine-making techniques it uses. The focus today is placed on the terroir, the variety and the vinification and ageing processes.
