Pesquera Red Reserva 2012

General information

From Spains famous winemaker Alejandro Fernandez

Alejandro Fernandez was born in 1932 in Pesquera de Duero in the province of Valladolid. Before winemaker Alejandro was a carpenter, a blacksmith and an inventor of machines for ploughing fields. In fact, in his winery the stainless steel deposits, the rods to drive the trellis system and machines to clean the barrels have been created in his workshop.

Alejandro Fernández has all the simplicity and wisdom of a man of the Castilian countryside, and his efforts brought forth the first luxury Ribera del Duero at a time when the production of the area was limited to alcoholics clarets, except for Vega Sicilia.

Along these years Pesquera has received among others the praise of Robert Parker in its Wine Spectator publication chosing it as the top eight wines in the world and is included in the "100 most prestigious wines in the world" according to the French guide Hachette.

Despite all this, Tinto Pesquera is still a modest business, a medium-sized winery with a production of one million bottles per year, 200 hectares of vineyards of tempranillo, on large estates like “Viña Alta, Llano de Santiago and La Rendeja” or smaller ones like “Laveguilla and La Ermita”.
