General information

A ‘Ribera’ wine with bite

The Red Wine Arroyo Gran Reserva 2010 is one of the best grand reserves that may be found in Ribera del Duero. Blessed with one of the greatest vintages of the 21 century with this appellation (that of 2010-Excellent), it is a balanced, silky, tasty red wine, with a great structure.

The Red Wine Arroyo Gran Reserva 2010 was born from a vintage rated as Excellent in the Ribera del Duero Appellation: that of 2010. It is an excellent single variety of red grape of the country (tempranillo) designed with grapes selected from the Miraflores, Sullerto and Cornesa vineyards, located in Sotillo de la Ribera, owned by the Producer. A wine of which only 20,000 bottles are manufactured every year. Aged for 36 months in French and American oak barrels and harmonised for 36 months in bottles before it is released. In Sotillo de la Ribera, bordering on La Horra and Gumiel de Mercado, Bodegas Santiago Arroyo has one of the most valued vineyards of this region. Twelve different estates reaching a surface area close to a hundred hectares, some really old, with vines over forty years old, that provide the producer with the best raw material to make great wines. The Red Wine Arroyo Gran Reserva 2010 combines perfectly with veal, such as roast topside, or white meat such as paschal lamb stew with mushrooms.

Tasting Notes

Profile sheet Arroyo 2010

Of ripe cherry red colour, with a slightly tile coloured brilliant rim.

Elegant, subtle nose, marked by aromas of black fruits in jam (raspberries and blackcurrants) in the beginning; later milky notes and spice reminiscences (cinnamon and vanilla), ending with a background of soft toast.

Balanced and tasty on the palate, with a good backbone that gives it a great structure, noble tannin, powerful, silky and very well integrated overall, with amplitude and volume. At the back of the nose, notes of ripe red fruits and spicy hints. Long, complex final persistency.
