Sela Aged Red 2012

General information

Bodegas Roda’s newest and most affordable wine.

Roda was one of the driving forces behind the renewal Rioja underwent in the 1990s, with innovative wines like Cirsion that have earned international acclaim. Sela 2012 is the latest addition to their product range.

Bodegas Roda is one of the firms responsible for securing Spanish winemaking a prominent role on the international scene. Their Roda I was a foretaste of the great potential that was subsequently realised in Cirsion – huge, extremely elegant wines that have earned the highest distinctions. Sela 2012 is the winery’s newest wine and also the most affordable. Sela 2012, a red with a distinctive personality in an affordable price segment, received a ‘Commended’ rating at the 2015 Decanter World Wine Awards. Made with the loving care that characterises Bodegas Roda (choice of vineyard and barrels), Sela is a red with prominently fruity flavours that are beautifully set off by the notes from 12 months in French oak barrels. It is a gem of a wine from a boutique winery whose name is synonymous with high quality and modernity. Roda is a perfect example of the successful combination of state-of-the-art technology and a skilled reinterpretation of the region’s grape-growing practice. Roda started out in the late 1980s, when Mario Rotllant and Carmen Daurella arrived in La Rioja determined to establish their own winery and create an exceptional wine different from the rest. They passed on their enthusiasm to their team, who became the cornerstone of the firm and continue at the helm today, with Agustín Santolaya as the visible leader. Careful selection of the vines and magnificent fieldwork are Bodegas Roda’s distinguishing features.
