General information

The estate wine made by a historic winery

Chivite Finca Villatuerta Syrah Garnacha 2012 is made from an exclusive selection of grapes – the French Syrah and the Spanish Garnacha – grown on an absolutely unique terrain. This red reflects the maturity, elegance and knowhow of the firm that produces it, one of Spain’s most important family-run wineries.

J. Chivite Family Estates is a firm with more than three centuries of experience in grape growing and winemaking. This staggering legacy is splendidly reflected in the wine the Club is offering you: Chivite Finca Villatuerta Syrah Garnacha 2012. Its low-yield clay-loam and lime soils and marked Atlantic influence make the 160-hectare Finca Legardeta estate, where this red is grown, an absolutely unique terroir. All these aspects are reflected in this wine, which has a distinctive personality, a highly expressive nose with intense floral and fruity aromas and a pleasantly ripe and velvety palate full of finesse.

The perfect blend of Syrah (which gives it its deep colour, body and fruity and spicy aromas) and Garnacha (responsible for its acidic bite and freshness), together with careful ageing in French oak barrels for 14 months, make this red an elegant, enveloping and balanced wine.

Tasting Notes

Profile sheet Chivite Finca de Villatuerta Syrah Garnacha 2012

Displays an attractive ripe cherry-red colour with deep garnet at the edge, intense, vivid and bright.

In the nose, initial floral notes (violet and rose) are followed by hints of ripe red and black fruit (redcurrant, blackberry and plum) together with balsamic notes of liquorice and minty aromas, ending with a subtly spicy finish. Tasty, well-structured palate. Excellent tannins give it a big, voluminous mouthfeel, with abundant notes of black fruit blended with hints of spice and charred oak. Long, complex lingering finish with prominent balsamic undertones.

This red is a perfect match for beef dishes such as round of beef with mustard sauce or white meats like lamb and wild mushroom stew.
