General information

The essence of the Mediterranean in an elegant and intense red wine

The Castaño family is a benchmark in the Spanish Mediterranean wine sector for its history and achievements with the native varieties of the area, mainly monastrell. After several generations linked to the world of wine, the Castaño saga has adapted the legacy of previous generations to the adoption of new technologies and the most modern vinification systems at the service of its magnificent wine heritage.

Solanera Viñas Viejas 2016 is one of the best red wines of the Yecla DO and one of the most recognized outside Spanish borders. Year after year, this wine has seduced international critics. In fact, Robert Parker's publication The Wine Advocate has rated it with more than 90 points on several occasions (94 for its 2012 vintage, for example). This is a coupage of monastrell, cabernet sauvignon and garnacha tintorera, aged in oak barrels, with a marked Mediterranean character.
The US market has bowed at its feet. Are you going to miss this superb red that you can buy for only £ 10 a bottle this month?
