General information

The Gil family’s adventure in Aragón

At their Aragonese winery in Ateca, the Gil family make wines from old Garnacha vines planted in slate-rich soils, such as Atteca Garnacha 2015.

Old vines located at a high altitude produce a fresh Garnacha with good acidity that offsets the traditionally higher alcohol content of wines from Calatayud. The prestigious Gil family, creators of the legendary El Nido (which scored 99 Parker points), made the complex red Atteca Garnacha 2015. The Gil family are one of the most celebrated families of wine growers in southeast Spain. Their Aragonese winery has been making wines from old Garnacha vines planted in slate-rich soils since 2005. Tasting Notes

Profile sheet Atteca Garnacha 2015

Very intense cherry-red.

Complex, expressive nose with predominant mineral aromas, notes of black jammy fruit and hints of dark-roast liquorice, chocolate, toffee and toasted wood.

Excellent balance on the palate, full, tasty and elegant mouthfeel with noble tannins and good acidity. Easy to drink and pleasantly alcoholic, with a nice long finish.
