General information

Fruit-bearing, youthful style

Fresh, youthful and very fruity, Artadi Valdeginés 2012 is the most affordable of the new parcelled Artadi wines. An excellent Rioja, structured and with a long life ahead.

Third vintage in the market of this new fragmented wine from the successful Artadi Producer. Artadi Valdeginés 2012 was produced with selected tempranillo grapes grown in a single vineyard: Valdeginés, located in Laguardia at 600 m of altitude, over the hillside of poor calcareous-clay soils, where Artadi practices ecological winegrowing. A Rioja aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, outstanding for its joviality and marked fruity notes. Founded in 1985 in Laguardia (Rioja Alavesa), Artadi is the Riojan cooperative led by Juan Carlos López de Lacalle, one of the most creative and brilliant visionaries in Spain, the author of many of the most valued wines in the country, such as Viña El Pisón and Artadi Pagos Viejos. Artadi is managed by López de Lacalle, one of the local wine experts that in the early 1900s laid the foundations for the revolution and modernisation of Rioja wine. His main contribution consisted in valuing a new concept: that of terroir wine, wine created from specific plots, connected to the earth. With the 2010 vintage, he launched his new collection of parcelled wines -to which this Artadi El Carretil belongs-, achieving new critical and public success.
